Hi everyone,
Well, here we are, guys. The Black Air – my first Young Adult novel – is officially out there in the world! 🤩 I hope you enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed the process of writing, shaping and developing this story. The end result is something I am deeply proud of and want to clutch tightly to my chest.

Thank you SO much to everyone who came to my launch party, Q&As and book signings over the past few days – it was so wonderful having you there to celebrate with me! I couldn’t be more excited and, honestly, more emotional. I’m doing plenty more events over the coming two months so take a look and see if you can make it! 🍂
This book has been an awfully long time coming (😅), and with good reason. It deals with topics that I don’t think the world would have been comfortable hearing about in 2013, the year I first put pen to paper.
For me, this book isn’t just the plot of The Black Air – the witches, the dark and moody backdrop, the obsessive friendships. While these things are absolutely integral to the story, the book (for me) is primarily about coping with severe trauma ♥️
In 2023, I am a very happy 33 year old. However, this book symbolises a time period of my life that wasn’t easy. My hope is that people will find shards of their own experience within the characters of this book and understand that help is available. It does get better.
So, in this blog, I want to explore the deeper story behind my main character – Cate – and how she has helped me more than she will ever know.
